Announced February 2025, on sale since February 2025.
Powerbeats Pro 2 is a hook-style workout earbud with ANC, Transparency and optional optical heart-rate sensing. Beats rates the earbuds IPX4, but not the charging case, and claims up to 45 hours with the case in Adaptive EQ mode; ANC or Transparency lowers that claim to 36 hours. In first-weeks reviews, Brownlee and Dave2D found the hooks secure, while CNET’s Carnoy could not seal the included tips. Early heart-rate tests were mixed across workout types and apps, so check your own fit and app. Compare dated retailer cards, Apple’s exact guide and local warranty terms before buying.

Evidence summary
Recurring strengths and trade-offs
In their first-weeks tests, Marques Brownlee and CNET’s David Carnoy both place Powerbeats Pro 2 noise cancelling just below AirPods Pro 2. Brownlee calls it strong but a smidge behind, while Carnoy says his AirPods comparison seemed a touch better and notes that his Beats tip seal was poor. These are listening impressions affected by fit, not a measured ANC ranking.
In first-weeks use, Brownlee calls the flexible hook fit a lock, and Dave2D finds the hooks secure and comfortable. That shared hook verdict does not establish a good ear-tip seal for every listener; try the included tip sizes and fit test before judging sound or ANC.
What depends on needs and context
In first-weeks tests, Brownlee and Dave2D found the ear hooks secure, but CNET’s Carnoy could not get a tight seal with any of the five included tip sizes and tried third-party tips. Hook stability and acoustic seal are separate fit questions; Carnoy’s experience is one wearer’s result.
In launch-week tests, DC Rainmaker reported major errors on two of his outdoor runs, estimating roughly 40% of one and 80% of the next as wrong. DesFit found his indoor cycling and weight-training readings much stronger, but also saw running cadence interference. These were individual early tests, not a reliable accuracy rate for every user or later firmware.
In first-weeks listening, CNET’s Carnoy prefers the Powerbeats Pro 2 sound to AirPods Pro 2, whereas Dave2D finds the bass stronger but the overall sound merely okay. Dave2D also finds gym noise cancelling underwhelming when weights drop, while Brownlee rates ANC strong but slightly behind AirPods Pro 2. Venue, fit and personal tuning preference limit these comparisons.
In their February 2025 first-weeks tests, DC Rainmaker and DesFit both struggled to send earbud heart rate to several iPhone fitness apps, while Android pairing worked for apps they tried. Their app lists and firmware reflect launch conditions; check the current app integration you plan to use before treating this as a present-day limitation.
Decision checks
A loose ear tip changes comfort, sound, and heart-rate accuracy. Five silicone tip sizes ship in the box, and the medium tips are already fitted. An Ear Tip Fit Test is in Beats settings on iPhone and iPad. The same test is in the Beats app on Android.
The earbuds are IPX4, which Beats describes as resistance to sweat and splashes from any direction. The charging case is not sweat- or water-resistant. Charging is USB-C or a Qi pad. The power adapter and USB-C cable are sold separately. Beats says a 5-minute charge can give up to 1.5 hours of playback in Adaptive EQ mode.
The retailer cards below show exact Powerbeats Pro 2 destinations checked on 26 September 2026 across the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Prices, availability, sellers and colour variants can change at checkout. The later Nike Black & Volt special-edition price should not be compared as a base-colour offer.
On Apple devices, setup includes one-touch pairing, automatic switching, Audio Sharing, hands-free Siri, and Find My. On Android, the Beats app covers one-touch pairing, heart-rate controls, button changes, battery widgets, and locating the earbuds.
Apple warrants a Beats-branded product against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the original retail purchase. That warranty does not cover abuse, accident, modifications, or unauthorized repairs. Those benefits are in addition to, and not instead of, rights provided by consumer law.
In launch-week tests, Brownlee, Carnoy and DC Rainmaker reported that an Apple Watch reading took priority on iPhone when both the watch and earbuds were worn. Check Apple’s current heart-rate setup guide and your workout app for the combination you plan to use.

Beats announced Powerbeats Pro 2 and opened orders on 11 February 2025, with retail availability from 13 February 2025. Black & Volt is a later Nike special-edition colour, not a separate core generation. See the dated retailer cards for buying destinations.
Beats says up to 45 hours of listening in Adaptive EQ mode: up to 10 hours in the earbuds and 35 more from the case. With active noise cancelling or Transparency on, Beats says up to 36 hours total: 8 hours in the earbuds and 28 more from the case.
The earbuds are rated IPX4. Beats says that means they resist sweat and water splashing from any direction. The charging case is not sweat- or water-resistant.
Yes, they measure heart rate during a workout. Optical sensors pulse a green light more than 100 times a second and calculate that rate. The feature works with the Fitness app on iPhone and with compatible apps on Android, and you can turn it off. Powerbeats Pro 2 do not separately record or store heart-rate data, and on iPhone that data is shared with Fitness and Health.
Yes. Beats says each earbud has three microphones for calls, noise cancelling, and Transparency. On a call, all three microphones are used with one earbud, and five microphones are active when both earbuds are worn. Press and hold the b button to switch between noise cancelling and Transparency, or set that hold to the voice assistant in settings.
Apple’s Powerbeats Pro 2 user guide covers pairing, controls, heart-rate monitoring and care.
